The Malta Feline Guardian Club, MFGC, excelled itself once again with the resounding success of its 27th and 28th International Cat Show, held at the Phoenicia Hotel on the 27th of March. Cat lovers of all ages continuously streamed into the ballroom to admire feline beauty in the many forms. Persians, Exotics, British Long Hair, Sphinx, MaineCoons and the much loved Maltese Domestic cat were amongst the cats exhibited, to the delight of the visitors. The visitors paused by the cages and chatted enthusiastically with the owners and fell in love with cat after cat as they went from cage to cage. The funfair theme of the cat shows served to add to the festive atmosphere brought about by the enthusiastic public. Once again the large turnout from the public reflects their appreciation for the standards of the MFGC Cat Shows! The Club extended its thanks to the two esteemed WCF all breed judges, Mr Antonello Bardella from Italy and Mr Andeas Kretschmer-Kraiczek from Germany. Both Judges were most vocal in their praise for the Show. They commented on the high calibre of the show, a standard which is now synonymous with Cat Shows presented by MFGC. They further stated that each participating cat was of high standard, exceptional beauty and perfect in its own way, thus rendering their role as judges most arduous. The top honours went to a Himalayan Blue Tortie Tabby Point, Chrysoberyl Eyes Raissa. Ms Joanne Mifsud Micallef, her owner proudly presented her cat to the applauding public as she received a multitude of awards for her adorable feline which included Best of Best Adult and General Best Cat.
Other titles were given to the winning cats in the various categories. Black Cats were lucky for Ms Roberta Micallef as her magnificent black British Long Hair, Maxi, was voted as the Best Pet in Show. The lovely Kelmar Candy Floss , owned by Ms Kathleen Zammit, stole the hearts of the public and was awarded the visitors’ vote.
Each judge had a different favourite cage. Mr Andeas Kretschmer-Kraiczek chose the cage decorated for MIcabliss MOlly Malone, owned by Ms Rodianne Caligari, while Mr Antonello Bardella picked the cage housing Micabliss Nash, decorated by his owner, Ms Martina Guillamier.
Our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and their beautiful felines. The President of the club, Mr Kevin Charles Micallef, extended his thanks to the the show sponsors, IAMS, Eukanube and Sapori. Mr Anthony Satariano, who after two years, was once again sponsoring the show, described the MFGC Cat Shows as the best professional shows and was delight to lend his support to such shows.
Mr Micallef was grateful to the committee for their hard work and dedication in preparing this show.
