FELINE MARVELS in March

Dearest members of the public!

The Malta Feline Guardians Club, MFGC, would like to invite you to its 27th and 28th International Cat Shows. This grand event, being presented as TWO TITLES ON ONE DAY would be taking place in the ballroom of the Phoenicia hotel, Floriana on Sunday 27th March.

The show is open to the public between 10am and 6pm. The show pays homage to the diversity in breeds and you may view nature’s perfection in the form of Persians, British Long Hair, Exotics, MaineCoons, Himalayans, Sphynx and other feline breeds. In all, over 60 cats would be exhibited and included is the Maltese Domestic Cat, a much loved and welcomed cat by exhibitors and visitors alike. With the entrance ticket you will receive a booklet in which all the cat names, breed and owner names are listed according to the cage number. Thus you would be able to greet each lovely cat by its name and also speak with its owner. The owners are always delighted to discuss their cats with the public. You would also receive a 5 Euro voucher exchangeable at Derek’s Garden Centre and be given the opportunity to vote for your favourite cat.

To turn your Sunday into the perfect family event, a small competition is to be held for the children where each winner would receive a voucher from Toy Magic. This much anticipated event is being presented as ‘two titles in one day’. Therefore all the exhibited cats would participate in two judging sessions. The Club has invited two WCF all breed judges, Mr Antonello Bardella from Italy and Mr Andeas Kretschmer-Kraiczek from Germany, to preside over the judging. All cats would be presented before one judge during the first show and before the other judge during the second show. The judges would be judging all the beautiful cats from various categories set during the show. These categories include two Specialty Rings, held for distinct features within each different class of feline and three Show Rings. All pure breeds felines, be they kittens, adult or neutered cats, can participate in these Rings. The judges would also be selecting the General Best Cat in Show. A task both delightful yet near impossible to decide between one exquisite feline and another!!

The winning cats from each show would then compete against each other to select the overall General Best in Show. The winning cats from each show would be eligible to compete for the Master Title in a show later in the year. The Master Title is amongst the most coveted award a cat may receive. To closely link this event with Carnival, the theme of the show is a ‘Funfair’ and the exhibitors were invited to decorate their cages according to this theme. The judges would be choosing ‘the best decorated cage’ while you, the visitor, would be able to vote for your favourite cat.
