Kurilian Bobtail Shorthair

Body The body is compact and muscular, with a slightly arched back and a raised rump.
The legs are solid, the hind legs are longer than the front legs, the paws are round.
The tail is kinked and/or curved, with one or more kinks in any combination.
The length (without furnishing) is between 3 and 8 cm. The fur on the tail is longer
than on the rest of the body (pom-pom effect).
Head The head is large, in shape of a trapezium, with gently rounded contours. The profile is slightly curved.
The cheek bones are broad, the muzzle is medium in length and rather broad, with gentle contours.
The chin is well developed.
Ears The ears are medium sized, broad and open at the base, relatively high set and tilted slightly forward.
The distance between the ears is about one ear width. The ear tips are rounded.
Eyes The eyes are rounded, broad and set at a slight angle.
Eye colour shall be even and corresponds with the coat colour.
Coat The coat is short, with well developed top coat and little undercoat.
Colour varieties The colours chocolate and cinnamon, as well as their dilution (lilac and fawn) are not recognized in any combinations (bicolour, tricolour, tabby). The pointed pattern is also not recognized.
All other colours and patterns are recognized. Any amount of white is permitted. The description of colours is listed in the general list of colours.
Faults
  • tail of 8 to 12 cm length or shorter than 3 cm
  • “delayed bobtail” effect
  • only one vertebra in the tail
  • too arched back
Disqualification
  • missing tail vertebra
  • short, not kindked / curved tail
  • length of the tail more than 12 cm
Remarks
  • Cross-breeding with any other breed is not permitted.
  • Novices are only recognized as documented import from the Kuril Islands.
